There should be no obstructions outside your main door. If there is an obstructing wall or a staircase, you should alter the entrance.
There should be no mirrors in the house directly opposite the main door. Such mirrors result in reflecting back the good energy which enters the house.
Front door should not face a toilet door. Since toilet is a negative area, the good energy coming from the main door enters the toilet and gets drained away. Make sure your address is clearly visible from the street both day & night.
Place items in your front and back yard that create motion or have eye catching appeal. Examples: garden gazing balls, pinwheels, hand painted garden stakes and/or figurines. The brighter the colors, the better.
Add flowering plants, in groups of 3's along the walkway to your front door. Red is best.

The first thing that you need to do is get yourself a good compass and determine what is in the southeastern corner of your home.

Fountains:
This is one the two best places in the entire bagua to place a flowing fountain. The other is your Career sector.

Flowing water represents the flowing of money. The Chinese consider wood or bamboo fountains to be especially auspicious when placed in this area.

Goldfish-
This is a great area to put an aquarium. Traditionally the Chinese place eight orange or yellow gold fish and one black goldfish in an aquarium to attract money. The number 8 represents prosperity in Feng Shui. The idea too is that if misfortune hits your family, then the ninth black goldfish will die and receive the misfortune instead of you. Eight Horses-

Every one of us has a Kua number derived from our date of birth that determines if we are a East or West Group person.

But what does it mean to be a East Group person? Why does it matter if I'm a West Group person?

There are many schools of thought in Feng Shui and the Eight Mansion Feng Shui is one of the most popular.

According to Eight Mansions Feng Shui, there are four directions that are good for you (Auspicious Directions) and four directions that are bad for you (Inauspicious Directions).

Your auspicious and inauspicious directions are determined by your Kua number. When you know how to use your auspicious directions to your advantage, you'll be able to attract positive energies into your life.

In this lesson, you'll learn to calculate your Kua number based on your birth date so that you're able to determine your auspicious and inauspicious directions.

Calculating Your Kua Number

There are two things to take note of when calculating your Kua number.

1. The method of calculating the Kua number for a male is different from that for a female.

2. Your birth year determines your Kua number.

However your birth year is determined with reference to the beginning of Spring based on the Chinese calendar. The beginning of Spring falls on the 3rd, 4th or 5th of February of the Gregorian calendar.

If your birthday is before February 3rd of the Gregorian calendar, you'll need to subtract one year from your "Gregorian birth year".

If your birthday is on 3rd, 4th or 5th of February, it'll be better for you to refer to this Kua Number Quick Reference to ascertain your Kua number.

If your birthday is after 3rd, 4th or 5th of February, you'll simply use your "Gregorian birth year" in the computation.

For Male

Step 1
Add the last two digits of your birth year.

Step 2
If you get a double-digit in Step 1, add up the two digits to get a single digit.

Step 3
Subtract the number derived from Step 2 from 10.

For Female

Step 1
Add the last two digits of your birth year.

Step 2
If you get a double-digit in Step 1, add up the two digits to get a single digit.

Step 3
Add 5 to the number derived from Step 2.

Let's use an example.

If you're born on January, 3rd 1976 based on the Gregorian calendar, you'll subtract a year from your birth year since you're born before February 3rd. So your birth year based on the beginning of Spring of the Chinese calendar is 1975.

Step 1 is to add "7" and "5" to get "12".

Step 2 is to add "1" and "2" to get "3"

If you're a male, you'll subtract "3" from "10" to get "7". So your Kua numbr is 7.

If you're a female, you'll add "5" to "3" to get "8". So your Kua number is 8.

If you know your element, it will help you decorate by identifying the best placement
of things and the best colors so that you can achieve overall harmony and
well-being.
WOOD - Green
If you are a wood element person, you can benefit from using lots of greens, blues,
blacks and some reds, but not yellow, gold or white. Use plants and water in your
home, but be careful as to the placement of these elements. They belong in the
South or East section of your home.
FIRE - Red
Fire element people can use lots of reds and greens, but not too much white,
gold or yellow. It causes misunderstandings between family members and friends. It can also cause
loss of income. Use lots of the color green, including green plants, and you will
see an increase in your financial status. In fact, after red, green is the most important
color to be used in your home.
EARTH -Gold, Yellow
If you are an Earth element person, you can have a lot of gold and yellows in your
home, in addition to some browns and reds. Avoid an abundance of green, blue or
black as these colors are detrimental to your health. Crystals and crystal chandeliers
are beneficial in different locations within the home.Red
is a beneficial color for Earth people.
METAL - White
If you are a metal element person, white, silver and metallic tones are your colors.
Yellow and gold are also beneficial to your element. Use all of these colors in your

In this new world of modern technology, this, too, is changing. More and more
people are connecting and working with their computers through the Internet, giving
them the ability to work from a home in the countryside. This will almost certainly
produce healthier individuals. We have almost forgotten how important
exposure to nature is to our health and well-being. Feng Shui is a reminder to pay
attention to the revitalizing effect nature has on our inner being. Feng shui teaches
us that certain places have better energy than others. Living near nature is a sure
sign of having better health, and gives us energy, vitality and the zest for living.
Once feng shui principles are implemented, we feel healthy, alive and filled with
energy.
When we live in a city, it is necessary to activate our surroundings in order to
achieve a healthy body and mind. If you live in a place where you are always ill,
you may be located where the energy running through the veins of the earth is
detrimental or incompatible with your energy.
Another possibility with ill health or fortune, is living in a place where "poison
arrows" shoot at you while you sleep or work. Poison arrows are any sharp, pointed
objects, including sharp corners from other buildings pointing toward your
front door or bedroom. If you are sleeping or lying in the direct path of such energy
for long periods of time, this can cause ill health to the point where you will not
be able to recover.
These poison arrows can also cause you to lose your wealth. Having financial
problems can also contribute to ill health.
In our modern day-to-day life, we sometimes ignore how and what we are feeling.
If we paid attention to our bodies, we would not have as many health problems. If
you are feeling less energetic, you should perhaps think of making changes in
your environment, or even moving to a new residence.
We must get back to listening to our inner selves and paying attention to our feelings.
If we do not have our health, life will not be worth living. When we are not
well, we cannot enjoy everything that life has to offer. So it is of the utmost importance

Your bedroom should be airy and have good circulation.
Activating the health section can certainly help your health. If you are having
health problems, place a bamboo plant on the east side of the house and make sure
to keep this space clean and uncluttered. You can also buy a small little carved
gourd called a "wu lou" and place it in this section. If you are an earth person, buy
a crystal one; if you are a wood person, be sure to buy a wood one. If you are a
water person, place a container with water in this section. If you are a fire person,

Marrige & Romance Corner - Southwest

Never, never use dried flowers or have dying flowers or plants around. Dead or
dying flowers have a very negative influence wherever they are placed.
Cacti, or thorny or prickly plants, can cause arguments among family members.
Luxuriant green plants with large leaves placed around the house bring good energy,
but be careful about placing too much green in this corner. This corner is of the
earth element, and plants (considered to be wood) are not an inherently beneficial
element.
Placing a pair of crystal swans or mandarin ducks or a pair
of anything in this section will activate love or
romance. Crystal is the primary element
for the southwest section, so
anything made with crystal
would be better.
Bathrooms should never
be located in this section
of the house. A bathroom
here is a sure sign of problems
in a marriage. If a bathroom
is located in this section and
you have other bathrooms in the house, use the others and try not to use this one.
Place a mirror on the door and keep the door closed at all times with the toilet seat

Mirrors should never be placed in the bedroom by the side of the bed, at the foot

problems between couples. Mirrors should be placed in the dressing room or bathrooms,

Water is detrimental to the marriage corner. As the element for the marriage section
is earth, water is the worst element to be placed here. Having water on the
right hand side of your front door as you look out is another sign for problems in
the marriage.North is the direction of the
water element, so placement in this section is fortunate. Water placed on the west

school you wish your child to attend.

EAST
Represents the flow of energy for your health and well-being. This element rules
springtime. It is the time of year when all plants and things in the earth come to
life. The sun rises in the East. Wood is the element that helps us to stay healthy.
If you do not have enough green plants or living things in your environment, you
will not feel alive. Green plants or a nice bamboo plant placed in this section helps
you achieve a happy, healthy life.

SOUTHEAST
The section of the wood element. This section represents the money or wealth section
of the home. In this section of the house, it is very important to place a flourishing
green plant, a small fountain or fish tank, and a red envelope containing
some coins. You can paint this wall green.

SOUTH
The section for the flow of fire energy. We could not live long without sunlight.
Fire and South represents the sun, and the heat created by the sun. This is energy
created during the summer months of the year. American Indians realized the value
of fire, which is a regular part of their ceremonies. The Kitchen is of the fire energy.
It represents the stove, without which we could not eat properly.
The fireplace in your home is considered part of the fire energy when lit. This section
represents the energy we send out to the world and what we get in return in
the form of fame, success, wealth and recognition.

SOUTHWEST
This is the flow of the earth and symbolizes one of the most important elements,
your marriage or relationship. Everyone is looking for a good relationship if they
do not already have one. Sometimes it seems this is the hardest thing of all to come
together. The colors to place here are yellows and gold tones. Use a pair of things,
like mandarin ducks or crystal swans. Anything crystal in this corner helps to activate
your romance or love life. Mandarin ducks have brightly colored plumage and
a crested head.
I have done many feng shui consultations for people who are single and want a
relationship. When I go into their homes, I commonly see an abundance of single
things: single people in pictures, one bird, one candle, a single flower, and so on.
Things should be grouped in pairs to set the stage for a good relationship.

WEST
Represents the flow of energy for your children's health, their schooling and overall
well-being. This is where the metal element rules, and the color white, which
is considered pure.
Placing copper, brass or other metals in this area helps to balance out this section.
Metal is the element that needs to be balanced the most in order to feel in harmony
with life. Most business offices have too much metal and are often
out of balance due to the fact they do not have enough green plants and other elements
to offset the metal.

NORTHWEST
It is also of the metal element. This area is the section that rules our benefactors or
mentors. Place a metal statue in this area to give you support, or an image (in an
attractive metal frame) of a person who can help your career.

Fuk is the god of wealth and happiness. Luk is the god of importance and affluence

There are so many things you can use to create more abundance in your life.
Bright lights placed in dark spaces of your home enhance your chances for making
more money, especially when placed in the wealth section.

Crystal chandeliers, thriving green plants, fresh flowers, fountains, fish tanks,
wind chimes, brass bells and lots of color should be in each and every room in the
house, including the kitchen. Paintings in the kitchen and dining area should be of
fruit, flowers and food.
Heavy sculpture pieces and statues produce yang energy, while yin energy can be
activated with bright lights and sounds from background music and chimes.
Paintings and pictures that symbolize happiness can be placed in different rooms
for a calming effect. Avoid any kind of art that suggests unhappiness. Never place
a picture with a person's back to you in any room in the house. You will have people
leave your life if you have any such pictures.
Paintings should be with more than one person or animal
to ensure happiness in your love life. Single people
in paintings suggest being alone. If you have any
paintings like these, replace them with happy and
healthy pictures of people or animals.

Water is the elixir of life. We are not able to live
long without it. It is the only substance that is
absolutely necessary in order to have a healthy
body and mind. It is also the element that rules
the career section. Without our careers, we
would not feel self worth, and certainly not have
the money it takes for living in today's world. Its
direction is north. Water can be placed in the north or southeast section of your
home. The southeast section is the prosperity corner. The placement of water in
this area, along with a luxuriant green plant, will be beneficial in attaining wealth.
Wood is the element that rules the Southeast and consequently, water is beneficial
to the wood.
Activate these two sections by using bubbling fountains (and be sure to select one
where the water bubbles up instead of running down) or fish tanks. Keep both
clean, as stagnant water has the same effect on your financial position.

Pets and Feng shui.

Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui

Everything in your home should be in working order. If you have a broken chair,
replace it or get it fixed immediately. If you have chips on some of your dishes,
get rid of them.
It is not good feng shui to have chipped dishes, or anything in the kitchen that is
not working. Replace anything in the home that is not working properly, especially
burned out light bulbs, leaky sinks, and broken or cracked windows and
doors. Everything should be in proper working order, or your resources will drain
away.
The computer you work on daily should not have cords going in every which
direction. Use a large funnel cord to put all the small cords in
so they look neat and tidy.
Another important aspect element in promoting
good feng shui is avoiding overcrowding.
When you have too much "stuff" in your
environment, energy does not flow easily. It is
better to have less in a room so the ch'i can move
comfortably. You should feel relaxed and secure
in every room of the house.
Speaking of every room in the house, every room in your home should be used. I
have done feng shui consultations in huge homes to where much of the house is
not used. You can feel when rooms are not used. They hold dead energy. It is very
important to use every room in order to circulate the energy to all parts of the
house. If a room holds dead energy, that room exerts a bad influence on the rest of
the house and can cause illness to the people who live there.

Keep your home and office clean! Don't be afraid to throw out old files with old
energy. Throw those files away and new business will come to you. Throw away
letters from former lovers and you'll find someone new!
Cleaning out clutter and keeping your home and office neat and tidy is one of the
first steps toward "activating" your sectors ruling health, wealth and romance.
After cleaning out the clutter physically, clean and straighten up the place, vacuum,
sweep and mop all areas of the house. This should be done at least once a
week.
Allocate different corners to each individual in your household in
order to maximize and enhance your wealth section. If you find
that you do not use something within a year, get rid of it. Once
you dispose of things you no longer use, you make room for
new energy and opportunities to enter.

Overhead Beams and Feng shui.

Overhead beams should not be exposed in any part of the house. They will stop
the flow of good ch'i energy. When exposed in a home, they bring a feeling of
oppression and can stop the flow for money and wealth accumulation.
When the bed where you sleep, or where you sit at work have exposed beams overhead,
they can cause ill health, bad luck and business problems. Sleeping under an
exposed beam can cause severe illness.
If your desk is directly under an exposed beam, you will have a difficult time
achieving your full potential in the business world. Ceilings were never meant to
have exposed beams. The best ceiling should have a flat surface and if at all possible,
have rounded edges at the corners.
Standing beams protruding from corners
can cause problems in any section
where they happen to be. For instance,
beams in the marriage corner can foster
conflict and divorce, in the wealth
corner they cause the loss of money,
and in the knowledge corner, lack of
education for you or your children.
If you have such large beams (square
columns) placed in corners, you can camouflage the edges by putting plants in
front of them. You can cover the sides of the beam with mirrors (except in the bedroom),
and flowers will also help the flow of energy.
Hollow wind chimes can also be placed from the ceiling close to the beam, and
this will help the flow of energy to pass by the beam. They are not as effective as
the plants or mirrors, but if you cannot do anything else, you can use chimes.

Never sit with your back to the door.

Whether you work at home or in an office, never sit with your back to the door,
and try not to face a wall.

Facing a wall can make it seem as though
you will never get ahead, as your progress
is blocked.
If you do face a wall, and it is
impossible to rearrange your desk, a mirror
placed on the wall in front of you will help
to some extent remedy the situation.

Many offices today have cubicles where
people are all crowded together. If this is
the case and you must sit with your "back to
the door," a small mirror on the wall in front
of you will allow you to see people
approaching from behind.

You'll find this small adjustment will increase your
comfort level. It isn't conducive to good ch'i energy to work with your back to the
door or to other people. If your back is to the door or to other people, you are
opening yourself up to get stabbed in the back.

Your back should not face a window, either, as you will not have the support you
need. If this is not possible, keep the window covered with drapes or blinds, and
place a large green plant by the window or in front of it. You can also use a screen
for the same purpose.

Never sit directly in front of your office door. Try to sit at an angle so that you have a good view of the door, but are not directly in front of it.
If you work in a home or outside office, always try to sit facing your great prosperity
direction.

If that is not possible, sit facing one of your three other good
directions, preferably your overall harmony direction.

Place objects like a globe, in the proper directions in your office the same way you
would in your home. If you work out of the home, the office space should be activated
with symbols to enhance the flow of money energy.

Bathroom Feng Shui.

digesting your food. A crystal chandelier

ch'i energy.
At one time, everyone used crystal for
chandeliers, but with the passing of time,
crystal has often been replaced with
other materials. They hold no value now
from a feng shui point of view, unless, of
course, they are crystal.
The dining room is one of the best places for a large mirror. This "doubles" the
food (abundance) and ensures good ch'i.

Bedroom Feng shui.

into account, including the way you revitalize yourself.

the room. You should not have anything under the bed, so that energy can circulate
properly.
The bedroom should be painted a soft color that suits your energy so you will rest
peacefully.A bedroom should never be painted red. Red is an energizing color and
you will not get the proper rest if you sleep in a red room. Fresh air should always
be circulating through your bedroom and also through the rest of the house.
Ceiling fans turned low are also a good way to circulate energy. Ceiling fans should not be placed directly over your bed.
Your bedroom should never have a mirror
that faces the bed, as it interferes with
restful sleep. Mirrors should not be
placed behind your bed, at your feet or by the
side of the bed. It is an old Chinese belief that your spirit leaves the body and rises as you begin to sleep, but becomes frightened when it sees itself in a mirror. It then rushes back inside the body with the result that you never get a good night's sleep.

The Chinese also believe that a white coverlet is unhealthy because it is the color
of the shroud that covers the dead. It is also considered unhealthy for your feet to
face the door, because that is how they remove dead bodies from a room. There is
a saying in Feng Shui that when you sleep with your feet facing the door you will
never stay at home. You will find
that you will want to be on the go
all the time and never feel relaxed
when you are home. You will be
on the go constantly.
Ceiling beams in a bedroom are
quite unhealthy as they disturb the
flow of ch'i. They should be
avoided in all the rooms but especially
the bedroom. Have them
covered if they are open. They block the flow for energy to circulate. They also cause financial problems. Wall beams in corners of the room have the same effect. Green plants placed by the side
of the wall beams help deflect some of the negative energy, as will a wind chime
hung from the ceiling in front of the beam.

Your bed is one of the most important things
you have and should be replaced every time
you move. It should also be replaced under the
following conditions for the fresh energy a new
mattress brings:
• If you have had your bed for a long period of time, perhaps
five years or more, you should replace it.
• If you have a bed where other people slept before you
• If you or your partner have been seriously ill,your bed
should be replaced with a new one.

Are your pillows clean and comfortable, and what about the mattress? Is the room warm enough? Do you have your favorite sheets on and do you change them regularly? Are you turning your mattress over regularly? Do you have clutter under your bed? If you have bed draws under make sure you keep them tidy and if possible only keep sheets or towels in them.

Health factors
Are you also getting enough exercise? Have you got a balanced diet? Remember that the foods you consume also need to have not just a balance from a dietary perspective but also from a yin and yang balance. For example, microwave food is usually too much yang. Coffee keeps people awake. When did you have that last cup and was it too close to bedtime? These are factors you need to ask.

Feng Shui and sleep
Electronic items are not good to keep in your bedroom; they may give you sleepless nights. The television for example is something many people like having in their bedrooms, but what they don't seem to realise is that it produces too much yang energy which disturbs sleep patterns.
Yin energy is important in bedrooms as it encourages rest and relaxation. High also on the list are Hi-fi sets and even computers. So if you work from home and have a workstation in your bedroom, it is bound to affect your sleep. And to top it all computers and televisions also become a mirror when switched off and work as a reflector. A cure for these problems is keep them covered at night with a sheet.

Married couples could experience a strain in the marriage when the mirror reflects the bed and it could mean the marriage becoming "crowded." So in short it seem it is better to keep these gadgets out of the bedroom for good. Having said that though.

Your bedroom décor
Is your bedroom painted in a bright fierce colour? That in it represents yang energy. Rooms should preferably in soft pastel shades. Bed-sheets too should be in pastels unless you have been feeling sluggish lately, in which case red bed sheets should be just the right thing.

Lighting
Make sure that your room is sufficiently lit and yet not overdone. Soft lampshades are fine but spotlights and harsh lighting do not help. On the whole it is not easy to get everything right but trying something new each time helps. So try getting just the right feel and you would know what works for you. Make sure you hang some crystals in the window.

Your bedroom should have a romantic feel to it, with soft colours and lighting. Hang some romantic or saucy pictures on the walls, or some loving couples statues on your bedside or dressing table. Always keep it clean and tidy.
Ps If you have an en-suite make sure you always keep the door closed and toilet seat down.

Dealing With People That Have Bad Chi

If you have been feeling victimized, if someone has been making your life miserable by politicking against you, speaking bad about you, spreading lies about you and generally causing you grief and you are being affected by it, then their bad chi has definitely pierced through your aura.

When this happens and you don't do something about it, the result is you begin to feel worse and worse, and soon you will descend into a horrible spiral of feeling miserable and sorry for yourself. ..It is important that you recognize this.

Those familiar with this syndrome will probably advise you to "ignore" this kind of aggressive and insinuous attack against you, but of course easier said then done, especially when you do not yet have the experience and maturity needed to cope. Yet it is vital that you do not allow yourself to get into a downward spiral of misery. Otherwise the situation will succeed in pulling you down. So when you feel this happening, here are 2 excellent ways to deal with the situation.

..(1) Get two ripe and juicy lime fruits. It is best to pluck them directly off a plant if you have one. If not, you can look for this lime in the market. There are 2 varieties – the smooth limes that resemble miniature oranges and are about the size of a 20 cents coin OR they are the mottled more fragrant variety. Both are suitable. Bring them home and do not wash them. Hold one each in the palm of your hands and roll them in your palms while thinking, "all the bad vibes, gossip and bad intentions of this person (if you know his/her name say it silently to yourself) is flowing into the lime, keep rubbing the lime in the palm of your hands for about 10 minutes, then go to a big drain or better yet a river and throw both limes over your right and left shoulders into the drain or river, and DO NOT look back. Just think that you have successfully removed all the bad chi, bad luck and bad intentions from your body and mind. ..Return home and have a salt bath. You will find that whoever it is who has been giving you a hard time will cease to have any more effect on you. This is also an excellent way to reduce the pain of losing a loved one and to get through a particularly bad luck month. The lime is believed to have the power to symbolically draw out all the negatives from your aura. ..

(2) Another really effective way is to think of whoever is causing you grief and visualize that person getting smaller and smaller. Then open up your right palm in front of your face about 8 inches from your mouth. Imagine this person standing about 3 inches tall on your palm, then with a smile blow hard on your palm, and as you blow, imagine that your enemy is sent into the cosmos where he/she no longer has any power to hurt you. This is an excellent way to reduce and even completely remove all the negatives associated with that person in your mind. ..The important thing to understand about these cures is that while you cannot do anything about what people say about you, you are in control of your own reaction towards them. Sometimes it is our own mind that blows things out of proportion so we end up getting hurt by our own perceptions. By using the above 2 cures – the first a ritual and the second a visualization, anyone can significantly reduce the impact on one's own mind. The result is that you become a happier person. With practice, you will find that the negative people you are bound to encounter in life will soon have lost their power to disturb your mind.

The T Is Considered Bad Feng Shui..Why?

Once you have followed and practiced Feng Shui for a while, you will discover all sorts of tricks as well as taboos. One such unmentionable practice is to inhabit or build a home situated at a T-junction. As you may well know, there are certain shapes and angles that are considered bad Feng Shui and will bring you bad luck and possible harm or even progressive illness. The T-junction is one of these no-nos you want to try and avoid.

The reason all has to do with the flow of universal energy also known as Chi. You want Chi to flow at a leisurely rate, not practically slammed into your space. With a home located at a T-junction, this shape is likened to a poisonous arrow pointed at your home. Negative Chi can travel quite fast down the straight-away and basically cross that T and slam right into the home. This blast of Chi packs quite a destructive punch to the overall flow of energy to the home.
In addition, when this Chi is traveling at an accelerating rate, what happens if something or someone darts in its path? That someone or something bears the brunt of quite an energy blast. Occupants of the home would absorb that destructive Chi if something does not slow it down. This negative energy blasting the house located at a T-junction should make sense to you right? Just think of all the bright and shimmering headlights shining into the windows of the house. And lets also not forget those times when cars may not observe the stop sign at the T-junction due to negligence or drunk driving and just continue barreling straight ahead running into the home. Add to that the noise pollution from the stream of traffic and the air pollution from the car exhausts. This all adds up to quite a flow of negative Chi heading straight toward the home.
Homes located in a Y-junction suffer similar fates as those located at the T-junctions. Again all traffic seems to flow straight ahead to the house until cars have to decide to take the left or right portion of the Y. If at all possible, avoid purchasing a home located in either junction. You will avoid having to start at a negative Feng Shui point, which you might not be able to totally overcome.

If you are new to Feng Shui and live in a Y or T-junction, there are a few things you can do to lessen the impact of that entire negative Chi slamming into your domicile. First of all, if your front door directly faces the junction area, see if you cannot use a different door as your main entrance. That way less negativity is invited into your home via the Y or T-junction. A side garage entrance, kitchen entrance or even patio entrance is preferable.

Sometimes, relocating your entrance is not possible. Therefore, you will want to dig out your shovels and start planting hedges, shrubs or trees that can block and absorb the negative energies that are coming at a fast rate from the T-junction. In addition, you can construct a fence to border your front yard to act as a shield against bad Chi. Solid fences are definitely preferable over wire or chain link fencing. Picket fences are an option because the wood slats are wider and more solid, great for absorbing negativity.

A final line of defense is hanging a Ba-Gua mirror by the front of your home. This is an octagonal shaped mirror that is only used outdoors to deflect bad Chi from the home. The best position for the mirror is right above the front door, especially if it directly looks down the T-junction. Hanging it on the outer wall of the home is also an option too. As long as it can deflect the highest level of negative energy possible from that one particular position, the Ba-Gua mirror can be a great line of defense. If there is a long front porch area facing the street, then you can use more than one mirror.

Basically, you start with values and beliefs of the ancient Chinese people. They believed that everything from the planet to the stars to the human body were all a part of one overall system.

In recognizing that there was only one system in which everything existed, there was no superior entity. Each part depended on one another to exist in order to maintain a harmony in life itself. There were no opposing sides as everyone had to depend on one another to survive and co-exist. Feng Shui is an ancient art and science developed over 3,000 years ago in China. It is a complex body of knowledge that reveals the ways to balance the energies of the environment to assure health, wealth and good fortune for people inhabiting it. "Feng" means "wind" and "shui" means "water" (pronounced fung-shway). In Chinese culture gentle wind and clear water have always been associated with good harvest and good health, thus " good feng shui" came to mean good livelihood and fortune, while " bad feng shui" came to mean hardship and misfortune. Feng Shui is based on the Taoist vision and understanding of nature, particularly on the idea that the land is alive and filled with energy.

The ancient Chinese believed that the land's energy could either make or break the kingdom, so to speak. The theories of yin and yang, as well as the five elements, which are some of the basic aspects of a feng shui analysis, also come from Taoism. The main tools used in a feng shui analysis are the Compass and the Ba-Gua. The Ba-Gua is an octagonal map or grid containing the symbols of the I Ching, the ancient oracle on which Feng Shui is based. It is one of the easiest methods used to ascertain the Feng Shui of any given environment. The feng shui compass, also called lo-pan, is used to access deeper information about the site or the building. It consists of bands of concentric rings arranged around the magnetic needle. "Lo" means "everything" and "pan" means "bowl", which can be interpreted as the key to mysteries of the universe. Feng Shui offers a variety of remedies and enhancements to improve people's lives and rectify inauspicious situations. It is extensively used in both home and business environments all over the world. Although some levels of feng shui are easy to understand and apply, the "core" knowledge takes years of study. This turtle (synonomous with tortoise) is also referred to as the “Black Warrior” because of it’s strength, endurance and longevity. It represents Winter and the direction North. The turtle is ascribed to have the provided the first mathematical formula for cosmic energy inscribed on the back of it's shell, discovered by the legendary cultural hero Fu Xi. Chinese literature dating from as early as 2800 BC tells the legend of Lo Shu or "scroll of the river Lo". In ancient China, there was a huge flood. The people tried to offer some sacrifice to the river god of one of the flooding rivers, the Lo River, to calm his anger. Then, there emerged from the water a turtle with a curious figure/pattern on its shell; there were circular dots of numbers that were arranged in a three by three nine-grid pattern such that the sum of the numbers in each row, column and diagonal was the same: 15. This number is also equal to the 15 days in each of the 24 cycles of the Chinese solar year. These grids are also known as Magic Squares.

Magic Squares have fascinated humanity throughout the ages, and have been around for over 4,000 years. They were frequently found in a number of cultures, including Egypt and India, engraved on stone or metal and worn as talismans, the belief being that magic squares had astrological and divinatory qualities, their usage ensuring longevity and prevention of diseases.

The Kubera-Kolam is a floor painting used in India that is in the form of a magic square of order three. It is essentially the same as the Lo Shu Square, but with 19 added to each number, giving a magic constant of 72.

Here the tiger is a protector - a preserver. As we have seen, white jade was used when the Tiger god of the West was worshipped; it is known as 'tiger jade;' a tiger was depicted on the jade symbol. To the Chinese the tiger was the king of all animals and lord of the mountains, and the tiger-jade ornament was specially reserved for commanders of armies. The male tiger was, among other things, the god of war, and in this capacity it not only assisted the armies of the emperors, but fought the demons that threatened the dead in their graves.
